About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineering Lead to join our team at DISH Network in Germantown, MD. As a key member of our Hughes Network Systems division, you will be responsible for leading the research and development of cutting-edge satellite communication equipment and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of mechanical solutions for electronic packaging challenges at the chip, board, enclosure, and data center levels.
  • Design and develop custom indoor and outdoor enclosures to protect circuit board designs from harsh environments.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplined engineering teams, including digital EE's, RF EE's, and MFGR Engr's, to ensure successful product development.
  • Conduct design reviews and ensure that cost goals and schedule milestones are met.
  • Mentor junior mechanical engineers and provide technical direction.

Requirements:

  • BSME (or MSME) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in telecommunications electronic packaging.
  • 5+ years of experience using 3D CAD systems, such as CREO.
  • 5+ years of experience in broad material design for high-volume fabrication techniques, including plastics, die castings, extrusions, sheet metal, and elastomers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience performing thermal analysis and structural analysis.
  • Knowledge of environmental test standards, such as MIL-STD-810 and DO-160.
  • Technical awareness of UL safety standards, EMI/EMC standards, and design techniques to achieve compliance.
  • Familiarity with DFMA and DFMEA.
  • Project lead and project management experience.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
