Responsibilities:
- Oversee the operating system and its associated subsystems.
- Provide comprehensive system-level support for multi-user operating systems, including the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of hardware and software tools.
- Identify opportunities for optimizing computing resources and possess the ability to analyze information to draw meaningful conclusions. - Gather data to assess and evaluate existing or proposed systems. - Conduct research, planning, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrades of operating systems. - Collaborate with technical teams, including networking, to ensure system connectivity and compatibility.- Document system processes and maintain accurate records. - Responsible for capacity planning, disaster recovery, and security measures as needed.
- Have extensive experience with operating systems, network protocols, systems programming, and configurations, including hubs, switches, and routers. - Participate in the development and implementation of monitoring solutions that align with business information flows and systems architecture.
This role requires the ability to recommend innovative technologies that enhance current systems and support corporate objectives aligned with the Application Production Support monitoring strategy.
Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for delivering monitoring capabilities that support critical business applications.
As a seasoned technical resource, the individual will provide leadership in executing tasks as a team member or an independent contributor.
Essential qualifications include:
- 5 years of experience engineering solutions with IBM Tivoli Netcool Suite, including Netcool Omnibus.
- Experience with message bus probes/gateways and Netcool Omnibus probe rule writing, including regular expressions.
- Familiarity with the Apache Kafka Ecosystem, including messaging and log aggregation.
- Knowledge of fault-tolerant and high-availability design.
- Unix background and understanding of ITRS Geneos/Kafka integration.
Experience with Netcool Impact Policy writing and XML is advantageous. A solid understanding of the following tools is also beneficial:
- Dynatrace, Splunk Enterprise, including deployment, instrumentation, and leveraging for analytical and alerting capabilities.
- Proven experience with monitoring tools such as Tivoli, Microfocus BPM, Sitescope, Dynatrace, and Catchpoint.
- Knowledge of OS (Windows/Unix) based infrastructure services, processing, monitoring, and shell scripting.
- Proficiency in programming languages (Java and/or .NET) and experience in application/network performance and availability monitoring.
- Familiarity with N-Tier Architecture supporting various products (Webserver, Middleware, Database, etc.).
- Understanding of ITIL functions and processes.
The candidate must be an excellent communicator, capable of networking and influencing across multiple levels. A self-motivated, hands-on individual with strong leadership skills is essential. Strategic thinking to connect business context with technical realities is required. Experience in a large, multi-data center enterprise environment is preferred.
Business acumen is a plus. Effective communication and adaptability are critical skills for this role, as the individual will be responsible for the adoption of the enterprise monitoring framework.
