PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Ensure the safe, organized, and efficient transport of students to and from educational institutions and during extracurricular activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver's License with passenger and school bus endorsements
Current Texas Department of Public Safety School Bus Driver Certification

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Must be at least 18 years old
Ability to comprehend and follow both verbal and written instructions
Must uphold an acceptable driving record as per Texas Department of Public Safety standards
Must successfully complete an annual physical and mental evaluation as mandated by Texas Department of Public Safety
Must pass pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol screenings as required by federal regulations
Proficient in reading, writing, and verbal communication in English

Experience:

Prior experience working with children is preferred but not mandatory
Previous experience as a school bus driver is preferred but not mandatory

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands:

Maintain emotional stability; effective communication skills; ability to manage groups of students effectively

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Must be physically capable of utilizing the school bus emergency exit for evacuation procedures; continuous sitting, reaching, bending; repetitive hand and arm movements; work in both outdoor and indoor environments; moderate exposure to extreme temperatures; exposure to vehicle emissions.

Capable of lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.
