Job Summary

GREAT OAKS CHARTER SCHOOL - BRIDGEPORT INC. is seeking a skilled Art Educator to join our team. As a Middle School Art Instructor, you will be responsible for creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters creativity and artistic expression in our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the Common Core Standards and student assessment data.
  • Build relationships with students that communicate the importance of college success and their potential for success.
  • Collaborate with the Special Services team and Tutor Corps to build differentiated learning plans for all scholars.
  • Maintain consistent communications with families regarding student progress through regular updates.
  • Clearly and consistently communicate and uphold school rules, values, and expectations in and out of the classroom.
  • Display time management to maximize student learning.
  • Build a collaborative, respectful classroom community.

Requirements:

  • State teaching certification, pending certification, or demonstration of qualifications to obtain certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Art Education or related field.
  • Teaching credential and authorization to teach art grades 6-8.
  • 2+ years experience teaching middle school art.
  • A commitment to equity, student voice, and responsive teaching.
  • Classroom management abilities.
  • A strong belief that all students can succeed.
  • The ability to respond well to feedback and implement it immediately.
