Graduate Assistant

Head Coach - Football

Position Overview:
This role involves supporting the football program in the recruitment and retention of student-athletes, ensuring an exceptional experience for all members of the Benedictine University Football Program.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in identifying and successfully recruiting qualified student-athletes to enhance the program's competitive standing within the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.
2. Provide coaching and mentorship to student-athletes, including film analysis, development of scouting reports, and preparation of game and practice strategies.
3. Collaborate with the head coach and university staff to support the retention of student-athletes through social and academic assistance, monitoring their academic progress, and ensuring they are dedicating the necessary effort to succeed.
4. Instruct on techniques and safety protocols in compliance with NCAA regulations and Sports Performance standards during the playing and practice seasons.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Build relationships within the Benedictine University community.
- Attend departmental and university meetings and events.
- Maintain a positive assessment of the program from student-athletes.
- Coordinate with university offices to facilitate events.
- Foster positive relationships with alumni, parents, students, officials, volunteers, and fans.
- Participate in university, conference, and national committees as required.
- Promote Benedictine University and the Department of Athletics positively within the campus and community.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree Required
Experience: Preferred coaching or playing experience with extensive knowledge of collegiate-level sports.
Requirements: Acceptance into a Benedictine Graduate program such as Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Business Analytics, Master of Science in Management & Organizational Behavior, or Master of Public Health.
Skills: Strong organizational, writing, typing, interpersonal, data entry, budget management, and supervisory skills.
Certifications: Valid driver's license and CPR/First Aid/AED certification are required.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, perform various physical activities, and maintain professionalism under stress. Frequent travel and irregular hours may be required.
Working Conditions:
Office environment with evening and weekend commitments.
Training: Completion of all required training by Benedictine University is mandatory.
