- Prepare patients for treatment, administer medications, and collect laboratory specimens, ensuring proper consent forms are obtained.
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, and instructions to patients, and provide emotional support during exams and procedures.
- Perform routine laboratory tests, sample analyses, and inventory management, ensuring accurate documentation and timely completion of tasks.
- Respond to emergency situations, adhering to nursing standards, policies, and protocols, and assist physicians in patient, employee, or visitor medical emergencies.
- One (1) year of experience in a medical setting, preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and medications.
- Detail-oriented, professional attitude, and reliable management and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, and basic to intermediate computer operation skills.
This role requires working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, and other hazardous materials. The Medical Assistant must be able to lift, push, and pull equipment and supplies, and work in a variety of settings, including clinics, surgical areas, and patient rooms.
