About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Specialist to join our team at CentraState Healthcare System. As a Patient Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide basic nursing care and assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, feeding, and diversional activities.
  • Collect and label specimens without error and accurately perform bedside glucose monitoring and calibration of Accucheck.
  • Perform post-mortem care and follow CentraState policy regarding restraint application, documentation, and observation.
  • Provide partial and/or complete direct personal hygienic care to patients, including bathing, feeding, and diversional activities.
  • Accurately collect and document patient data, including TPR, I&O, specimen collection, height, and weight, utilizing learned technical skills under the direction of the RN.
  • Notify the nurse immediately for patient complaints of pain/discomfort and any observed change in condition, and provide appropriate interventions for pain as directed by the nurse and report outcomes.
  • Assist with the elimination needs of the patient while providing privacy and dignity.
  • Perform rounding as per guidelines and correctly feed patients.
  • Accurately maintain feeding tubes and accurately perform incentive spirometry and pulse oximetry.
  • Accurately obtain and document temperatures, pulses, respirations, and blood pressure, and accurately measure and document intake and output.
  • Report patient intake and output to the nurse and support cost containment through efficient use of equipment, supplies, and other pertinent resources.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • PCT training provided by CentraState's Nursing Education & Professional Development team.
  • Commitment to a minimum of one year of full-time employment, including three 12-hour shifts per week, including alternating weekends and holidays.
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association only) required upon hire.
