Position Overview
As a Patient Care Support Specialist, you will provide essential care and assistance to residents, focusing on their hygiene, nutrition, mobility, elimination, and safety as directed by the Charge Nurse in accordance with established departmental protocols. You will be responsible for accurately documenting patient information and adhering to established standards and guidelines. Upon a resident's admission, you will ensure a smooth transition by completing necessary documentation, recording vital statistics, and orienting them to the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly to call lights and resident needs.
- Conduct regular rounds and assist with repositioning residents to ensure comfort and safety.
- Accurately measure and report vital signs and weights to the Charge Nurse.
- Ensure proper application of medical devices and specialty care items as per physician orders.
- Maintain accurate records of intake and output, communicating relevant information during shift changes.
- Assist with procedures and treatments as directed by the Charge Nurse.
- Manage supplies and equipment, notifying the Charge Nurse of any additional needs.
- Complete all assigned duties as a CNA, including attending training sessions and accepting new responsibilities.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration with team members and management.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Provide comprehensive reports to the Charge Nurse at the end of each shift.
Qualifications
- High school diploma preferred, but not mandatory.
- Active Certified Nurse Assistant certification in the relevant state.
- CPR certification required or willingness to obtain within six months of employment.
- Experience in long-term care settings is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
- Physical stamina to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Capability to lift and transfer patients safely, utilizing proper techniques.
- Manual dexterity and coordination for working with patients and medical equipment.
- Ability to document information accurately, either in writing or using recording devices.
- Visual acuity to distinguish colors and details.
