Evening Facility Attendant - School Operations

Porter-Gaud School is a distinguished Episcopal, independent, coeducational institution serving 1,650 students from preschool through 12th grade. We are currently seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Evening Facility Attendant, with an immediate start available.

This position reports directly to the Assistant Plant Manager and collaborates closely with fellow Facilities team members. It is a full-time, non-exempt role with a 12-month commitment, offering benefits such as health insurance, paid leave, school-provided meals, and access to a 403(b) retirement plan.

The Evening Facility Attendant is tasked with maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the school's physical environment, which includes offices, classrooms, gymnasiums, and the cafeteria. Additional responsibilities may involve assisting with special events by setting up tables and chairs, erecting tents, and cleaning up after events.

Flexibility is essential. This role may require working during school closures, including holidays, weekends, and extended summer hours. Attendance at events across the various Porter-Gaud campuses, during both regular and off-hours, is also expected.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct custodial tasks such as sweeping, dusting, mopping, and vacuuming.
  • Maintain and stock restrooms.
  • Collect and dispose of trash and recycling appropriately.
  • Adhere to all relevant safety regulations.
  • Follow all departmental guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Plant Manager, Plant Manager, or Director of Facilities.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to follow instructions effectively.
  • Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Familiarity with cleaning standards and procedures.
  • Experience with floor care and cleaning equipment is preferred.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience in custodial or housekeeping roles.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • A high school diploma is preferred but not mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

- Regularly lift 5-10 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
- Continuous demands for vision, hearing, fine motor skills, and verbal communication. Frequent activities include sitting, standing, walking, and carrying. Occasional bending, lifting, crouching, and climbing are also required.
- Work is primarily indoors, with occasional outdoor tasks that may involve exposure to varying weather conditions.
