Job Summary

The Cherokee Indian Hospital Authority is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the pharmacy team in the preparation and provision of medications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist pharmacists in the preparation and provision of medications, including calculating dosages and explaining pharmacy policies to patients.
  • Manage inventory control, including ordering pharmaceuticals and supplies, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Participate in the provision of outpatient and inpatient pharmaceutical services, including data entry, preparation of intravenous admixtures, and maintenance of medication inventories.
  • Perform receptionist and clerical duties, including answering patient questions, greeting patients, and maintaining patient charts.
  • Enter prescription orders into the RPMS computer system and process prescriptions, including labeling and packaging medications.
  • Assist in insurance Point of Sale billing process and processing.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records, including inventory management and medication control records.
Requirements
  • High school graduate with diploma and basic proficiency in position expected within 6 to 12 months of the date of hire.
  • Two to Four Years of specialized experience, including experience as a pharmacy technician, working in health care in a hospital or practice setting with direct patient care experience, or in a pharmaceutical firm or laboratory.
  • Certification by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board as a Certified Technician (CPhT) is highly desirable.
Working Conditions

The work is performed in a health care environment within a clinic, hospital, emergency room, field clinic, and/or pharmacy setting. Potential exposure to infectious and contagious disease can occur. Lifting or moving of pharmaceutical supplies, equipment, and patients that weigh over 50 pounds is possible.

Supervision

The position is under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy, or other Pharmacy Supervisor as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy. On a daily basis, the technician will be under the immediate supervision of a pharmacist present in the immediate work environment.
