Overview:

Role Summary:
The Special Education Support Staff will play a crucial role in assisting students with special needs, focusing on enhancing their mobility, self-care, communication, and social interaction skills to ensure their active participation in classroom activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with special needs in their daily activities and learning processes.
  • Facilitate communication and social interactions among students.
  • Implement strategies outlined by the classroom teacher to aid student learning.
  • Maintain a respectful and supportive environment for all students.

Classification:
MSEA Level 3

Compensation:
$21.93/hour

Working Hours:
6.5 hours per day

Work Schedule:
178 working days per year

Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or higher, or 60 college credits, or passing score on the MN approved ParaPro assessment.
  • Knowledge of child development and educational practices preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and adaptability.
  • Experience working with students with special needs, including Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD), Learning Disabilities (LD), and Mild to Moderate Handicaps (MMH).
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
