About the Role

D.R. Horton, Inc., a leading homebuilder in the U.S., is seeking a skilled Construction Area Manager to join our team. As a key member of our construction operations, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality homes to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee construction activities in the field, either directly or through the use of project managers and superintendents.
  • Ensure that build times are met and provide schedules to meet these deadlines.
  • Maintain responsibility for the profitability of homes being built in assigned subdivisions and manage costs by reviewing field purchase orders.
  • Provide training, communication, and development opportunities for project managers, superintendents, and field personnel.
  • Oversee field operations, production times, and ensure quality control to meet company standards and prepare homes for homeowner orientations/occupancy.
  • Inspect and ensure assigned subdivisions meet all safety standards in accordance with OSHA and state regulations.
  • Ensure all homes in the construction area are constructed to contract, specification, and detail.
  • Review and ensure all work invoiced is fully acceptable to company specifications and is 100% complete.
  • Visit job sites periodically to spot-check quality and policy enforcement.
  • Interface with public agencies to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
  • Handle escalated problems with subcontractors.
  • Respond to unsatisfactory survey cards and NRS responses.
  • Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Six years of related experience and/or training.
  • Must have a vehicle and a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or via DRH applications.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email.
  • Ability to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8-hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; climb, balance, and stoop, crouch, or crawl; walk up and down stairs; walk on unlevel terrain; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.
  • Regular exposure to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, and risk of electrical shock.
  • The noise level is generally loud.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Strong communications skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and attention to detail.
