Position Overview:


The Cost Accountant role is integral to the accounting department at StudioBuilt, functioning within an office environment to gather and analyze data related to the time, financial resources, materials, and labor necessary for product creation or service delivery.

Proficiency in cost accounting is essential, as the accountant will handle the processing, reconciliation, and reporting of financial transactions, including inter-departmental and intercompany reconciliations.

This position involves mapping out all human and material resources required for modular construction projects, utilizing these assessments to forecast project costs while ensuring adherence to established profit margins.


Key Responsibilities:


- Maintain and review cost accounting records for StudioBuilt, including the establishment and analysis of standard costs and variances in labor and overhead.
- Perform extensive data entry tasks.
- Prepare cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracting for modular projects based on schematic designs and specifications.
- Collect relevant project documentation, including plans, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Review RFQs from sales or engineering departments, gathering additional documentation and information pertinent to the project, such as drawings and technical specifications.
- Compare material lists from RFQs with project drawings, resolving discrepancies through consultation with sales, supply chain, or engineering personnel.
- Collaborate with the supply chain to obtain pricing for nonstandard items.
- Calculate costs and generate estimates by inputting data into Moducore.
- Account for resource utilization and apply a reasonable profit margin to determine overall pricing.
- Produce comprehensive project estimate packages for approval.
- Create and process sales orders and change orders.


Qualifications & Skills:


Required:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting is strongly preferred.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience in cost estimating within the construction or manufacturing sectors is necessary.
- 2-4 years of experience in modular building and construction is strongly preferred.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with quoting systems and CRM is preferred.
- Ability to multitask and navigate multiple computer applications efficiently is essential.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail are required.
- Dependable, conscientious, and articulate communication skills are necessary.
- The role demands high accuracy in data entry and documentation review.
- Proficiency in mathematics is essential.
