Job Summary:

The Simulation Instructor provides simulation-based education to educators who utilize the services of Loma Linda University's Medical Simulation Center. This role involves instructing mentors and educating faculty on scenario development, debriefing skills, and the appropriate use of Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) guidelines. The Simulation Instructor will provide guidance and staff development through education and perform other duties as needed.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare, Healthcare Administration, Teaching, or Education is required. A Master's Degree is preferred. One year of simulation experience, a minimum of two years of emergency room, operating room, or acute healthcare experience, and a minimum of one year of prior teaching, management, or supervisory experience are preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

The Simulation Instructor must understand experiential educational theory and simulation-based learning methodology. They must also understand anatomy and physiology, simulator software, video capture and editing, general lab safety, medical terminology, and abbreviations. Additionally, they must be able to effectively communicate changes and instructions in a professional, effective, and positive manner. They must be able to keyboard 40 wpm, read, write legibly, speak in English with professional quality, and use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position.

Licensures and Certifications:

A Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician's Assistant, or Medical Doctor is required. Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required.
