Recreation Coordinator

The Recreation Specialist will be responsible for organizing, leading, and promoting recreational activities for various age groups and individuals with disabilities. This role will involve supervising Recreation Assistants, developing and implementing recreational programs, and ensuring equal access to programs for participants with disabilities.

• Organize and supervise recreational sports and activities at assigned locations.
• Develop, schedule, and implement recreational programs that meet the needs and interests of various age groups and participants with variable physical capabilities.
• Provide support to participants with disabilities, based on assigned accommodation plans and sound inclusion practices.
• Assist in budget preparation, planning, purchasing, and administrative duties, record keeping, and tracking attendance of program participants.
• Transport program participants in multi-passenger vehicles as needed.

• High School Diploma or GED, and two (2) years of experience in the recreation field working with various age groups and individuals with variable physical and mental abilities.
• Valid New Mexico driver's license by employment date and maintain a valid NM driver's license while employed in this position.
• Completion of required FEMA training(s) as assigned to position.

• Works with general direction and with select groups.
• Work performed both indoors (60%) and outdoors (40%).
• Worker will be exposed to natural weather conditions when working outdoors.
• Required to drive multi-passenger vehicles as needed.
