Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled LPN to support our Chesapeake Office at Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina dedicated to cancer care and blood disorders.

Responsibilities
  • Provide general nursing care to patients, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with established nursing standards.
  • Monitor patients' conditions and reactions to medications and treatments, reporting any concerns to physicians.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, including FMLA, disability, Home Health/Hospice, and transfusion orders.
  • Screen patients for relevant information and respond to incoming telephone calls.
  • Instruct patients and families on medication and treatment instructions.
  • Record patient data prior to physician visits, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Arrange transfusions and hospital admissions as needed.
  • Ensure proper consent is obtained before treatment or procedures.
  • Prepare exam rooms, restocking treatment areas as necessary.
  • Phone in prescriptions and make patient calls as required or directed by physicians.
  • Arrange pre-authorizations and pre-certifications for hospital admissions when necessary.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent, with a degree from an accredited school for practical nursing.
  • Minimum of two years' experience as a practical nurse, with Central Line Care and IV skills, in a hospital or clinic setting.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Current LPN state license and registration with the State Board of Practical Nursing in the practicing state.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Ability to travel between offices when needed.
