Overview:
The Tax Compliance Program Manager plays a crucial role in providing expert consultation across the organization regarding tax implications related to compensation, specifically focusing on payroll (W-2) and independent contractor issues.
Additionally, the Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization-wide adherence to partnership tax reporting requirements for CHRISTUS Health.
Although third-party consultants manage partnership tax compliance, the Program Manager will maintain oversight from a centralized office perspective.
Key Responsibilities:Demonstrate proficiency in the relevant OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Self-Leadership, Leadership of Others, or Leadership of Leaders.
Engage in regular meetings with HR Payroll representatives to provide guidance on payroll tax matters.
Conduct frequent consultations with Accounts Payable representatives regarding independent contractor tax issues.
Act as the primary liaison for all organization-wide inquiries related to compensation tax matters.
Collaborate with CHRISTUS central office accounting teams, internal stakeholders, and external consultants to enhance and standardize partnership tax compliance processes, ensuring all necessary compliance measures are executed.
Review partnership tax compliance submissions to guarantee consistency across the organization, aiming for accuracy and thoroughness as expertise develops.
Provide training and advisory support to colleagues within CHRISTUS on compensation-related tax topics as needed.Exhibit the ability to engage with peers and relevant individuals to gather necessary information, consult on compensation functions, and coordinate partnership tax responsibilities.
Must possess self-motivation, initiative, and the capability to manage and prioritize multiple competing tasks while meeting deadlines.Perform additional duties as assigned by the System Director of Tax or the Tax Manager.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field is required.
Proficient in analyzing, researching, and interpreting compensation-related tax matters, with the ability to document and communicate findings effectively.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
Experience with compensation-related tax (W-2 and 1099) is essential.
Prior experience in a CPA firm or similar tax role is preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of standard policies and procedures in an accounting or tax department is necessary.
Familiarity with advanced Excel spreadsheet tools is preferred.
Experience with INFOR accounting software systems is advantageous.
Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.
