Job Summary

Under the supervision of a senior surgical technician, assists the surgical team in preparing for, performing, and recovering from surgical procedures. Provides expert support and maintenance of instruments and equipment to ensure a safe and efficient operating room environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinates the setup and arrangement of equipment and supplies in the operating room.
  • Checks instruments and equipment for sterility, cleanliness, and functionality before each procedure.
  • Assists in the preparation and use of equipment during procedures.
  • Coordinates the allocation of equipment for procedures on a daily basis.
  • Assists in the placement and positioning of patients on the operating table.
  • Scrubs arms and hands and dons gown and gloves as required.
  • Assists in the donning of gowns and gloves for team members.
  • Hands instruments and supplies to the surgeon and holds retractors as directed.
  • Counts sponges, needles, and instruments before and after each procedure.
  • Assists in the cleaning and sterilization of equipment.
  • Recommends guidelines for the use of equipment, purchase of new/replacement equipment, and additional parts and supplies.
  • Assembles and prepares case carts with supplies, instruments, and equipment for procedures.
Requirements
  • Minimum two years of current acute operating room experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic life support certification.
  • Certification in surgical technology preferred.
  • Strong experience with various surgical specialties, including minimally invasive, general, ENT, eyes, plastics, orthopedics, vascular, open heart-thoracic, spine, urology, GYN, podiatry, maxillofacial, and neuro surgery.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in surgical technology.
  • Video and orthopedic equipment experience.
Work Environment

Works in a fast-paced operating room environment, requiring attention to detail and ability to multitask.

Job Type

Part-time, standard schedule.

Pay Range

$48.58 - $52.38 per hour.
