Overview:

The Urinalysis Technician plays a crucial role in overseeing and collecting urine samples from clients involved in treatment court programs. This position entails managing the urinalysis testing process and utilizing breathalyzer equipment to ensure compliance with abstinence protocols. The technician is responsible for the observation and collection of urine and breath samples, directing the testing procedures, and meticulously analyzing and documenting all results pertaining to illegal substances and alcohol.
  • Oversees and monitors urine samples for clients across designated locations
  • Achieves and maintains lab analyzer certification within six months of employment
  • Conducts data entry and generates reports, ensuring accurate statistical records
  • Stays informed about laboratory policies and procedures, assisting in updates as necessary
  • Maintains laboratory equipment and chemical supplies
  • Provides the Court with written and/or verbal reports as required
  • Attends court hearings when necessary
  • Conducts inventory of testing equipment and orders supplies as needed

Work Schedule: Work hours may vary, including split shifts, rotations, and on-call duties. Standard office hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with potential combinations of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Weekend hours may also be required for monitoring drug screenings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements: Completion of one year of college coursework (30 credits) or technical training, or six months of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in a related field or completion of a technical program. Relevant work experience and/or education is preferred. Certification on the urinalysis equipment may be required within six months of employment.

Key Competencies: Understanding of the legal system and court procedures; ability to operate drug testing machinery; familiarity with lab policies and procedures; knowledge of illegal substances and drug testing protocols; understanding of laws related to probation and drug treatment; strong organizational and prioritization skills; effective communication abilities; accurate data entry skills; commitment to confidentiality; capacity to manage multiple tasks under deadlines; ability to maintain professional relationships with supervisors, colleagues, and the public; adaptability to a fast-paced work environment.

Additional Requirements: This position requires passing a pre-employment substance screening and a background check.

Compensation and Benefits:

Starting Pay: $19.66/hour
