As a Hospice Aide, your role will encompass a variety of tasks aimed at fulfilling the personal needs of patients and enhancing their comfort through:

  • Addressing personal care requirements as per patient assignments and responding promptly to their requests.
  • Ensuring patient safety and utilizing equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Delivering personal care services such as bathing, back massages, oral hygiene, shampooing, and changing bed linens as required.
  • Assisting patients with dressing and undressing as needed.
  • Providing support during meal times as assigned.
  • Monitoring and caring for patients' skin to prevent tissue breakdown.
  • Reporting any significant changes in patients' conditions to the designated supervisory nurse.
  • Facilitating ambulation and exercise as directed by the primary care nurse or therapist.
  • Offering assistance with bedpans and urinals.
  • Helping with light laundry tasks as required.
  • Performing range of motion exercises and other simple procedures as part of therapy services, following established competencies.
  • Providing respite care for patients' families or caregivers when on-site, as appropriate.
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly living environment for patients as assigned.
  • Adhering to the organization's documentation standards and care procedures, while upholding professional conduct.
  • Demonstrating respect for the patient and their family environment, along with the personal needs of the patient.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a state-approved training program or competency evaluation that meets regulatory standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with effective problem-solving abilities.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable, insured vehicle for home visits.
  • Current CPR certification.
