ROLE SUMMARY
The Personal Care Aide offers companionship and assistance to individuals needing social interaction and basic guidance to maintain a safe, clean, and organized living space. This role involves providing non-medical support to clients, ensuring their comfort, safety, and general oversight.
REQUIREMENTS
A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Candidates must complete any mandated training successfully.
Successful completion of Comfort Keepers training and orientation is necessary. Candidates should be responsible for understanding and adhering to company policies and procedures, working independently in home settings, and maintaining positive relationships with clients, families, and staff. A genuine concern for helping others and a commitment to honesty and integrity are essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carry out assigned tasks as outlined in the care plan.
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and healthy environment for clients and their families.
- Perform light housekeeping duties, including laundry and bed changing.
- Assist with meal preparation, grocery shopping, and kitchen cleanup.
- Remind clients to take their self-administered medications.
- Establish and maintain effective communication and professional relationships with clients, families, and colleagues.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding client information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and document services provided.
- Clear communication skills to ensure understanding.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening and appropriate questioning.
- Proactive in seeking ways to assist others.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position involves working in clients' homes and may require travel.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The role involves moderate physical activity, including driving, assisting clients with mobility, and light housekeeping tasks. Regular activities include standing, sitting, walking, talking, hearing, seeing, reaching, kneeling, and crouching. Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.
