We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Horse Camp Counselor at the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids. This is an exciting opportunity to work with children and develop their horse riding skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with horses and children, and be able to provide guidance and supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of all campers. As a Horse Camp Counselor, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing direct supervision to a group of no more than 10 children in a summer camp outdoor setting
  • Leading activities focusing on values and 21st century life skills each day
  • Instructing and/or assisting riding lessons in the arena, teaching barn lessons, and leading trail rides
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • At least 18 years of age and a high school graduate or equivalent
  • Previous experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field
  • Demonstrated horseback riding experience required

Work Environment and Physical Demands
