Pharmacy Technician II Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician II to join our team at Elevance Health. As a Pharmacy Technician II, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our pharmacy operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify member information and input data for pharmacists
  • Educate members on pharmacy-based rules related to prescriptions and medication resources or assistance programs
  • Process prior authorization requests from physicians' offices and ensure compliance
  • Provide resolution to grievances and appeals issues
  • Respond to inquiries from physicians, sales teams, and members related to formulary and prescription benefits
  • Generate reports relating to rebates, physician utilization, Beers Criteria, Reliance members, and other ad hoc reports
  • Maintain record-keeping of prior authorizations, rebates, and monthly reports
Requirements:
  • Active, professional license, if required by state law, State Pharmacy Technician Certification or National Certification based on applicable state(s) requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent and minimum of 2 years of pharmacy experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background
Preferred Capabilities, Skills, and Experiences:
  • Excellent communication skills with Commercial members a plus
  • Call center experience with high call volumes preferred
  • Experience in discussing medication adherence a plus
  • Proficient in computer systems and multitasking preferred
  • Patient care experience preferred

Elevance Health operates in a Hybrid Workforce Strategy. Unless specified as primarily virtual by the hiring manager, associates are required to work at an Elevance Health location at least once per week, and potentially several times per week. Candidates must reside within 50 miles or 1-hour commute each way of a relevant Elevance Health location.
