Position: School-Based Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)

Location: Kennebunk, Maine

We are currently in search of a dedicated and skilled Speech-Language Pathology Assistant to support students with communication challenges in a school environment. This role involves working closely with a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist to deliver both individual and group therapy aimed at enhancing students' speech and language abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the evaluation of students' speech and language skills to determine their needs.
  • Implement therapy plans as directed by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Conduct therapy sessions focused on improving articulation, language understanding, and overall communication skills.
  • Collaborate effectively with educators, parents, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care for each student.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records of therapy sessions, progress, and treatment strategies.
  • Engage in professional development through meetings, training, and workshops to stay updated on effective therapy practices.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology or a related discipline is required.
  • Active Maine SLPA License is mandatory.
  • Prior experience with school-aged children facing speech and language challenges is preferred.
  • Familiarity with various therapeutic approaches, including AAC, PROMPT, and social communication strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to working with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to keep organized records, manage time efficiently, and prioritize responsibilities.
