Job Overview

The Evening Pet Care Specialist is responsible for the attentive care of boarding animals during the night shift. This role also encompasses the supervision of our Doggie Day Camp participants and any other animals in our facility. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, walking, feeding, bathing, cleaning kennels, managing laundry, maintaining cleanliness in common areas, and administering supplements and medications as instructed by the veterinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the well-being of all animals by providing compassionate care.
  • Prioritize the needs of the animals above all else.
  • Safely handle and walk dogs of various sizes, including those weighing over 100 lbs.
  • Exhibit professionalism and confidence, even in high-pressure situations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment, proactively engaging in cleaning tasks.
  • Work independently and remain focused without constant supervision.
  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues and management.
  • Follow directives from shift leaders regarding daily responsibilities.
  • Adapt to a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Manage stressful situations and loud environments effectively.
  • Assist in various tasks as assigned, contributing to team efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • A genuine passion for working with animals, even in challenging circumstances.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of the veterinary team.
  • Physical Requirements: This role involves lifting, carrying, and walking, with assistance available for heavier animals. Extended periods of standing or walking are expected, often in a bent or squatting position.
  • Working Conditions: Exposure to various odors, weather conditions, and animal waste is common. There may also be risks of bites, scratches, and exposure to contagious conditions.
