The University of Miami/UHealth presents an exceptional opportunity for a Vice President of Medical School Operations.

The Vice President will report directly to the Dean and will be responsible for a diverse range of executive responsibilities and initiatives, focusing on the development and execution of strategic plans and objectives related to MSOM operations as a senior executive liaison to faculty and staff.

This role includes oversight of MSOM budget management, capital initiatives, annual events, and performance metrics aligned with our strategic objectives; collaborating to enhance HR and Finance business processes; forecasting and analyzing the school's various revenue streams, ensuring the achievement of MSOM goals, and fostering an environment where faculty and staff can excel.

  1. Provides operational leadership in alignment with the missions and goals of the Miller School of Medicine.
  2. Manages all administrative functions, including business operations, human resources, information technology, communications, and facility management.
  3. Develops comprehensive financial strategies, including revenue forecasting and analysis for tuition, donations, grants, and other income sources.
  4. Oversees the annual operating budget by department, program, and account, recommending resource allocations.
  5. Creates monthly operational reports, conducts variance analysis, and monitors actual performance against projections.
  6. Leads the development of strategic forecasts and assesses the financial implications of new initiatives.
  7. Manages MSOM budget operations, resolves complex operational challenges, and provides expert guidance to faculty and staff.
  8. Coordinates the use of funds in operations, ensuring compliance with terms and annual audit requirements.
  9. Facilitates collaboration among key stakeholders to address complex operational challenges and advance strategic priorities in support of MSOM objectives.
  10. Oversees the formulation and implementation of MSOM operational policies in partnership with the Dean and Senior Cabinet leaders.
  11. Acts as the AAMC Principal Officer, managing official correspondence on behalf of the Miller School to relevant accrediting bodies.
  12. Demonstrates sound judgment and diplomacy while engaging with diverse groups to resolve complex issues.
  13. Develops and refines support services essential for ongoing success and strategic growth, which may involve workforce planning and team development.
  14. Directs and manages MSOM capital projects and assists with annual events as designated by the Dean.
  15. Fosters effective partnerships across various groups to facilitate decision-making and ensure successful implementation.
  16. Monitors MSOM performance metrics in accordance with the strategic plan.
  17. Ensures compliance with laws and regulations, safeguarding assets, adherence to university policies, and the reliability of internal and external reporting.
  18. Establishes a robust control environment, conducts risk assessments, and implements and monitors necessary controls.

Education:

Master's degree in a relevant field
Experience:

A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, demonstrating a distinguished record of leadership and excellence in administration.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:

Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate departmental operations.

Capacity to establish departmental goals and objectives that align with the strategic plan.

Proficiency in planning, delegating, and supervising the work of others.
