Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced OR Coordinator to join our team at USPI. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the operating room, supervising staff, and coordinating daily case scheduling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of OR staff to ensure efficient and effective case flow.
  • Assist in the coordination of daily case scheduling with other departments to ensure a smooth schedule.
  • Prepare and coordinate monthly call schedules for OR staff.
  • Coordinate and prepare for monthly OR staff meetings.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians to resolve issues and ensure efficient case flow.
  • Order instruments and equipment for cases as needed.
  • Coordinate inventory quarterly in all areas of the OR.
  • Assist with OR education by coordinating and/or giving in-services.
  • Prepare schedules for the next day in the afternoon.
  • Supervise the evening shift, including coordination of staff for case completions and setup for the next day.
  • Communicate with physicians to resolve equipment or instrument issues.
  • Communicate with vendors and representatives for supplies, equipment, or instruments needed for cases.
  • Work closely with Materials and Sterile Processing Department to coordinate supplies and instrument needs.
  • Prepare and administer annual evaluations.
  • Work closely with manager on hiring and orienting OR staff members.
  • Assist in revising and preparing policies related to OR functions.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance for Joint Commission surveys.
  • Enter company data collections and observations into EDGE.
  • Enter data into Kronos time-keeping program.
  • Assist with staff counseling as necessary.
  • Coordinate and assist in Performance Improvement Projects.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school or professional nursing program.
  • Baccalaureate degree preferred or work-related experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience in surgery.
  • Current Texas RN License.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS required.
  • CNOR preferred.
  • Independent decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication skills with staff, physicians, patients, families, and vendors.
