We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Worker to join our team at ROE #9 Champaign-Ford County School Districts. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our buildings and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on buildings, equipment, and systems to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Facilities Management: Assist in the management of facilities, including scheduling maintenance, ordering supplies, and coordinating with vendors.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations, such as equipment failures or natural disasters, to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other departments, including operations, finance, and HR, to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, and at least 2 years of experience in maintenance and repair, preferably in a school or educational setting.
- Skills and Qualifications: Ability to read blueprints and manuals, climb ladders, and work at heights; ability to lift objects in excess of 50 pounds; and ability to respond to after-hours calls and work overtime as needed.
- Knowledge and Certifications: Familiarity with HVAC equipment, electrical power and lighting, carpentry, plumbing systems, and other building systems; ability to use standard hand and power tools; and ability to obtain a valid Illinois Class C driver's license.
- Competitive Compensation: The hourly wage for this position is determined based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Champaign Educational Support Professionals.
- Benefits: 100% of employee-only health, vision, and term life insurance; 100% of employee contributions to IMRF; and opportunities for additional compensation during the regular school year and in the summer.
