This is a Weekend Machinist position at GE Aviation, responsible for performing various machining tasks on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing and machining, with experience working with computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines.
Key Responsibilities- Machining Operations: Perform machining operations on a variety of metal parts, including drilling, milling, and grinding.
- Quality Control: Inspect and measure parts to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Equipment Setup: Set up and operate CNC machines to produce parts according to specifications.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with other team members to achieve production goals and maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
- Record Keeping: Accurately record and maintain records of production, including time worked and parts produced.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing or machining, with at least 1 year of experience working with CNC machines.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of machining operations, quality control procedures, and CNC machine setup and operation.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Additional Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a machine shop or aerospace engine machining environment.
- Computer Skills: Ability to use computers and learn Microsoft Office.
- Education and Training: Education and/or training in machine shop operations.
- Lean Manufacturing Knowledge: Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and practices.
