Job Overview

Our Substance Abuse Facility is seeking a dedicated and skilled Substance Abuse Counselor to enhance our clinical team.

Position Summary: The Substance Abuse Counselor will be instrumental in providing comprehensive care to clients battling substance use disorders. This role involves conducting thorough assessments, formulating individualized treatment plans, and facilitating both group and individual therapy sessions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to legal and ethical standards in professional practice.
  • Utilize the 12-step recovery model to guide treatment approaches.
  • Supervise the daily therapeutic activities of clients.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation as required.
  • Conduct initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of client progress.
  • Perform mental status evaluations to inform treatment decisions.
  • Offer tailored treatment recommendations based on client history and current needs.
  • Provide individual, couples, and group therapy as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of professional ethics, including confidentiality and boundaries.
  • Master's or Doctorate degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field. Must hold a valid license in New Jersey as an LMFT, LCSW, AMFT, ACSW, or LCADC.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required, to be obtained upon employment.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.
  • Health screening and proof of vaccinations or negative test results may be required.
