ROLE SUMMARY:

The Volunteer Engagement Supervisor is crucial to the Volunteer Services Department, overseeing a team of Volunteer Hosts who create enjoyable experiences for diverse groups of volunteers, accommodating up to 1,000 participants. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain reliable, consistent attendance on-site, ensuring punctuality to meet operational needs, including participation in meetings and presentations.
- Supervise Volunteer Hosts actively, conducting thorough walkthroughs of project areas to guarantee enjoyable and safe volunteer experiences.
- Lead team huddles before and after each shift to communicate essential updates, including volunteer groups, inventory, and assignments, while providing a brief overview of each task.
- Ensure all necessary documentation for projects is completed by Volunteer Hosts and relay important information regarding inventory and warehouse updates during shifts.
- Collect and share Volunteer Survey Data weekly during team huddles to facilitate project area adjustments and improvements.
- Collaborate with the Volunteer Experience Coordinator to plan and create next-day Volunteer Shift Schedules, ensuring team members are prepared with specific responsibilities.
- Allocate time for Volunteer Hosts to engage in ongoing training and professional development, including online modules and in-person meetings.
- Manage large or last-minute volunteer shifts, coordinating with team members to ensure project areas are prepared and product availability is known.
- Complete daily Supervisor Quality Check documentation while monitoring project areas.
- Review and approve Volunteer Hosts' paperwork before submission to the Volunteer Experience Coordinator, ensuring accurate reporting of metrics and production information.
- Facilitate ongoing communication with the Volunteer Experience Manager regarding shift schedules, performance issues, and other project-related matters.
- Promote safety in all project areas through proper equipment assignment and maintenance.
- Monitor equipment and supplies, accurately reporting safety and malfunction requests.
- Stay updated on AIB reporting protocols and collaborate with Facilities management to ensure success.
- Participate in all scheduled meetings as required by management.
- Coordinate with the Volunteer Services Coordinator and Volunteer Experience Manager for special project requests and volunteer group registration.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES:
Oversee one or more direct reports, providing guidance and support. Develop and maintain clear roles and expectations, practice performance management, and handle administrative duties related to team management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED; some college or a bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Experience in volunteer management, event coordination, and project management preferred.
- Customer service experience preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Must possess reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and insurance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Daily responsibilities include analyzing data, communicating, and remaining in a standing position for extended periods. The role requires frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and the ability to hear alarms and alerts in a warehouse setting.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The position is primarily office-based but may involve exposure to various conditions, including strong food-related odors and outdoor weather. Noise levels may vary.
TRAVEL REQUIRED:
Minimal travel is expected for this role (up to 10% domestically).
This position supports all operational hours at the Houston Food Bank facilities and may require occasional flexibility.
