Position Overview:As a key member of our team, you will assume the responsibilities of the Operations Manager during their absence, ensuring seamless operations and compliance with environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate closely with the Lab Technician to ensure adherence to discharge water quality standards.
2. Conduct monitoring and analysis of plant emissions and overall environmental performance.
3. Ensure that waste shipments and water discharge sampling are executed accurately, documented, and reported promptly.
4. Uphold environmental compliance as outlined in site-specific Environmental Manuals.
5. Provide supervisory support to management to enforce safety regulations consistently.
6. Manage hazardous materials and waste handling, ensuring spill prevention and control in line with applicable regulations.
Training and Development:
1. Deliver initial orientation and annual training sessions to employees, ensuring they understand essential regulatory compliance information.
2. Provide annual Emergency Response and Environmental training.
3. Review work packages for safety compliance.
Compliance Management:
1. Oversee environmental sampling and reporting requirements.
2. Coordinate site inspections with regulatory agencies at various levels.
3. Ensure compliance with the plant's Air Permit, Safety Program, NPDES Permits, Storm Water Permits, and other environmental programs.
4. Manage the site's Hazardous Waste Program and develop compliance procedures and checklists.
5. Maintain accurate records for various regulatory agencies as required.
Knowledge and Skills:
This role requires a thorough understanding of power plant and industrial systems, as well as applicable air, water, chemical, and safety regulations at all levels. Effective communication with supervision and fellow personnel regarding plant equipment and performance is essential.
Qualifications:
1. A minimum of five years of experience in power or industrial plant operations.
2. At least three years of experience interpreting and applying environmental regulations in a power plant setting.
3. A strong educational background in Environmental Sciences or a related field, typically acquired through college-level courses or equivalent experience.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to read reports, communicate effectively, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 75 pounds and climbing stairs or ladders. Protective clothing and equipment are mandatory while on-site.
Working Conditions:
This role involves normal business hours, with additional hours as needed to support plant operations. On-call status may be required, and participation in the Fitness for Duty Program is mandatory.
