As part of the Core Services team within Apple Services Engineering (ASE), we are in search of an engineering manager to guide a talented group dedicated to developing scalable and engaging features that enhance the experience for millions of users worldwide.

This role involves collaborating across various platforms, including iOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS, to create an online content system that supplies essential catalog and editorial data for our services.


Key Responsibilities:

- Innovate and integrate diverse technologies to challenge the limits of the CAP theorem while focusing on performance metrics such as median, 95th, and 99th percentiles.

- Collaborate cross-functionally to identify the necessary content metadata for upcoming features and effectively model entities within our online content system.

- Develop a data transformation platform utilizing Spark to deliver catalog metadata to various internal teams and external partners, enhancing services on third-party platforms.

- Leverage Big Data technologies to efficiently manage and distribute millions of updates to a wide range of consumers.

- Engage with third-party partners to comprehend their requirements and propose tailored solutions.

- As a team leader, establish a clear vision and roadmap, collaborating with experts to devise solutions and implement project plans to meet objectives.


Minimum Qualifications:

- Proven experience in leading and nurturing a team, including hiring and performance evaluation.

- Ability to provide hands-on technical guidance, mentoring, and motivation to engineers.

- Experience managing complex engineering projects from conception to deployment.

- Exceptional communication skills, capable of articulating complex concepts and crafting persuasive arguments.

- Strong collaboration skills with engineers, product managers, designers, and partners.

- Enthusiasm for in-depth technical discussions, attention to detail, and the ability to switch contexts across multiple projects.

- Visionary mindset to grow the team and platform in alignment with strategic goals.

- Hands-on experience with scalable web services and features that span multiple functional teams.

- Strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of data structures and algorithms.

- Familiarity with Big Data technologies such as Spark and the Hadoop ecosystem.

- Experience with NoSQL data stores including Solr, Elastic Search, Redis, Memcached, Cassandra, and Voldemort.


Preferred Qualifications:

- Proficiency in Java; familiarity with other JVM or functional languages like Clojure is advantageous.

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.


Compensation and Benefits:

At Apple, base salary is one component of our comprehensive compensation package, determined within a specified range based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

The base salary range for this position is between $181,000 and $313,000.

Employees have the opportunity to participate in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs, including restricted stock unit awards and discounted stock purchases through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
