We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Behavioral Health Float Pool team at Inova Health System. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will have the opportunity to work on various units within Adult Psychiatry, Adolescent Psychiatry, and Addiction departments.
Key Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive patient health assessments, interpreting multiple data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships.
- Formulate individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice.
- Support and empower patient/families as they progress through the healthcare continuum from health promotion to end of life decisions.
- Advocate for patients' rights from the patient/family perspective while providing counsel and acting as a resource to resolve issues.
- Anticipate ethical, spiritual, and cultural needs of patients and intervene to maximize patient outcomes and coordinate healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning.
- Document all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assist healthcare team members with documentation.
- Evaluate the outcomes of documentation and contribute to related performance improvement initiatives.
- Assist staff with assessing patients' learning needs and outcomes measurement of patient education.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and lead other disciplines to meet desired outcomes.
- Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with others, having respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines and using an integrated approach toward achieving desired patient outcomes.
- Keep informed of unit initiatives and incorporate the outcomes of team or committee work into practice.
- Act as a clinical resource and serve as a mentor to healthcare team members.
- Identify own learning needs and develop professional goals, seeking opportunities to obtain education to enhance practice, collaborating in the development and implementation of educational plans for identified needs, and reviewing self-development plan and professional goals.
- Demonstrate evidence of self-development by obtaining a minimum of six formal contact hours and maintaining own Team Member Continuing Education Record.
- Two years Behavioral Health nursing experience required.
- BSN or MSN. If Associates Degree RN, within 5 years of start date.
- BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification required (AHA) American Heart Association.
- RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a RN.
- ACLS and NIHSS (or obtained within 4 weeks of start date).
