About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate School Liaison to join our team at The Home for Little Wanderers. As a key member of our staff, you will work closely with local school districts to support Family Members and help them navigate educational and school-related concerns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Connect Family Members with services that meet their individual needs and ensure a process is in place for information and referral, as well as direct assistance where possible.
  • Meet with teachers, assist with Individual Education Plans, and collaborate with other school personnel as necessary.
  • Negotiate and implement special events and interagency activities involving schools and the community.
  • Manage a caseload and develop educational groups/programs for students and caregivers.
  • Collaborate with school networks and connect families to school-related supports.
  • Assist families in navigating educational plans, students' rights, and school policies.
  • Coordinate with families and personnel to address truancy, absenteeism, and special education issues.
  • Conduct assessments with FRC clinicians and identify when additional assessments may be needed.
  • Organize family support plan meetings to identify family goals, needs, and wants.
  • Make appropriate referrals and provide resource support.
  • Build partnerships and programming with the Boston school system.
  • Perform program-specific duties and functions.
  • Provide on-call coverage and crisis intervention as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Excellent cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer, with the ability to learn new software applications
  • May require knowledge of a second language, such as Spanish or Haitian Creole
