About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Project Manager to join our team at Stantec. As a key member of our project delivery team, you will be responsible for managing electrical engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring they meet project requirements, exceed client expectations, and meet project financial and other objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Successfully manage primarily healthcare projects and tasks of a scope, complexity, and revenue budget appropriate to experience.
  • Apply buildings engineering and project management knowledge while leading multi-discipline in-house and external consultant teams to meet project requirements within established timeframes and budgets.
  • Share knowledge with others by serving as a trainer, mentor, and resource.
  • Hold project team members accountable for deliverables.
  • Meet technical, contractual, schedule, budgetary, and client service objectives for each project.
  • Apply strong electrical engineering skills, experience, and knowledge to the design and oversight of the design for building projects.
  • Manage and plan the production resources and workflow to produce the design documentation, drawings, and calculations required for electrical engineering projects.
  • May periodically act as QC reviewer on projects.
  • Effectively delegate work to production support staff.
  • Nurture existing client relationships and proactively pursue opportunities for new business.
  • Develop and deliver project-related client presentations.
  • Maintain and expand current knowledge of technologies and trends, as they apply to the applicable project and market types, and continually strengthen skills.
  • Proactively pursue additional knowledge in related disciplines by attending available in-house and external training.
  • Attend and lead in-house project meetings.
  • Actively participate in meetings, initiatives, and projects that support studio and firm-wide goals.
Qualifications
  • Experience managing a diverse set of clients and project types, including but not limited to: healthcare, commercial, civil, institutional, and science/technology.
  • Experience leading or performing field investigations to analyze existing conditions, power system studies including short-circuit analysis, protective device coordination, and arc-flash, and load calculations.
  • Supports project requirements including basis-of-design narratives, cost estimates, drawing documentation, systems design, and technical specifications.
  • Leading and managing project delivery teams; designing Electrical systems for Healthcare Facilities and built environment; HCAI (formerly OSHPD) experience required.
  • Training and professional experience in project management.
  • Client consulting experience.
  • Understanding and implementation of the principles of project management.
  • Ability to manage clients, projects, fee, scope, and teams to achieve budget, schedule, and deliverable objectives while meeting key stakeholder critical success factors.
  • Fundamental understanding of the current NFPA 72, 99, 101, and 110, California Title 22 and 24, California Building Codes including the California Electrical Code and the FGI Guidelines as they specifically apply to Hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, and medical office buildings.
  • Familiarity with, and ability to produce, project-related documents and documentation standards required of a Project Manager.
  • Ability to integrate design elements with other disciplines to deliver a coordinated design.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare electrical and low-voltage systems.
  • Familiarity with and ability to apply sustainable design principles within projects while maintaining the process-driven requirements of healthcare facilities.
  • Strong client communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to apply logic, reasoning, and organizational skills to structure concepts and ideas into projects.
  • Knowledge and experience to identify and manage items of risk that may occur on projects.
  • Knowledge and experience to identify and manage potential unanticipated scope.
  • Functional knowledge of BIM software; in particular, Revit MEP.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
  • Minimum 12 or more years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated skills.
  • Professional Engineering license preferred.
  • Project Management Professional certification, LEED AP credential, and familiarity with various construction delivery processes, such as Design Assist and Design-Build, are a plus.
Work Environment

This role will be based in our Los Angeles office and will require occasional travel to project sites.
