Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Radiology Supervisor, the Radiologic Technologist operates both stationary x-ray machinery and portable C-arm devices to capture radiographic images of specific body areas, aiding in the diagnosis of medical conditions for the benefit of referring physicians and their patients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Always identify oneself to patients and colleagues by wearing an identification badge.
  • Engage in the preparation and management of all radiology patients, including screening and scheduling as necessary. Review patient medical histories and ensure proper positioning and transfer of patients.
  • Ensure the equipment operates safely and report any maintenance needs promptly.
  • Adhere to Radiation Safety protocols, utilizing shielding and ALARA principles in line with departmental policies.
  • Select appropriate technical parameters for each patient and examination.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff, complying with established safety standards.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of x-ray equipment, PACS systems, and electronic medical records.
  • Keep patient records in accordance with departmental guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the Imaging department.
  • Assist the Radiology Supervisor in upholding quality control standards and protocols.
  • Support inventory management and adhere to supply chain protocols.
  • Take responsibility for maintaining licensure and completing required continuing education.
  • Follow OSHA safety regulations.
  • Restock supplies as necessary, ensuring inventory is current and notifying supervisors of needs.
  • Produce work that aligns with established policies and procedures.
  • Stay updated on policy changes and review manuals regularly.
  • Maintain and service instruments and equipment according to established guidelines, including troubleshooting and coordinating external repairs when needed.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new procedures and modifications to existing ones.
  • Continuously assess and improve workflow efficiency.
  • Provide training to other staff members as needed.
  • Operate any Imaging equipment as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • A high school diploma or GED is the minimum educational requirement.
  • Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required prior to employment and must be maintained.
  • A valid State of Florida license is required prior to employment and must be kept current.
  • Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) certification is mandatory, in accordance with American Heart Association standards.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the radiology field is preferred.
