Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Transport Driver to join our team at Summit Materials, Inc. This is a critical role that requires the ability to transport materials, equipment, and personnel to and from construction sites safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transportation: Operate trucks, trailers, or other vehicles to transport construction materials and equipment to and from job sites.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations while driving and operating equipment.
  • Load Management: Load and unload materials and equipment onto trucks, ensuring they are properly secured and balanced for safe transport.
  • Route Planning: Plan the most efficient routes to minimize travel time and fuel consumption while avoiding obstacles.
  • Communication: Maintain communication with supervisors, dispatchers, and other team members to coordinate schedules and ensure smooth operations.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including checking fluid levels and inspecting tires.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by addressing client needs and concerns professionally and efficiently.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of vehicle inspections, mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery receipts.
  • Adherence to Schedule: Ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment to meet project deadlines and scheduling requirements.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate with other construction workers, supervisors, and subcontractors to support overall project objectives and maintain a safe and productive work environment.
Requirements
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required
  • Possess and maintain a company-approved motor vehicle record (MVR)
  • Ability to operate a vehicle with a manual transmission
  • Ability to work seasonal overtime as needed
  • Ability to work and contribute to both an independent and team environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate information one-on-one and in small group situations
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and/or oral instructions
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to fill out log books, timecards, and DVIRs (Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports)
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers
