Job Title: Pediatric Psychiatrist

Connecticut Children's is seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Psychiatrist to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide compassionate and evidence-based care to children and adolescents in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide treatment services, including assessment, medication management, and disposition of psychiatric patients.
  • Conduct routine, intensive, complex, and emergency intakes and extended evaluations for a variety of emotional, psychological, and behavioral disorders.
  • Collaborate with advanced psychiatric nurse practitioners and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Ensure adherence to agency policies and procedures, including emergency procedures.
  • Refer patients to appropriate programs and services as clinically indicated and communicate with nursing staff and social work to ensure referrals are completed.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and meet all ethical and agency standards regarding treatment and documentation practices.
  • Engage patients and families to develop treatment plans that address identified goals.
  • Document assessment findings, treatment recommendations, and plans for continuing care in the clinical record.
  • Collaborate with physicians, clinicians, and other agency providers to meet patient and family needs.
  • Provide health promotion, education, and counseling for patients and families related to medication, diagnosis, health issues, and coping strategies.
  • Supervise resident and student cases, providing feedback on interview techniques, assessments, treatment plans, and documentation.
  • Manage inter-disciplinary team issues that affect clinical care of patients.
  • Utilize quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in delivery of patient care, patient outcomes, or work flows.
  • Participate in efforts to ensure compliance with JCAHO standards and other applicable accreditation and regulatory standards.
  • May participate in peer review and quality assurance.
  • May provide care in an ambulatory clinic and C&L as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Academic appointments may be available with the University of Connecticut.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited school of medicine required.
  • Successful completion of a Psychiatry residency required.
  • Fellowship trained in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry required.
  • Experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry preferred.
  • CPI trained preferred.
