Job Summary:

As a Surgical Technologist Certified at McLaren Health Care, you will play a vital role in the delivery of perioperative nursing care to patients. This position requires a high level of knowledge and competency in performing basic and specific surgical technician skills related to the role.

Responsibilities:

* Assist the RN, Surgeon, Anesthesiologist, Physician Assistant, and Perfusionist in the delivery of perioperative nursing care
* Demonstrate safe medication management within the operative field
* Maintain a safe patient care environment
* Respond to real or simulated emergency and disaster situations according to established procedure
* Demonstrate competency in the utilization of specified equipment required for patient care
* Assist the RN in the development of surgeon-specific preference cards
* Assume responsibility for maintaining knowledge base and skills through continuing education and other learning experiences
* Function as an assistant in cardiovascular procedures and as a first scrub or assistant in other specialties
* Participate in performance improvement activities

Requirements:

* High school diploma or equivalent
* Graduation from an approved program for OR Technologists or minimum three years of experience as a Surgery Technologist
* Certification as an Operating Room Technologist, if not current, must be obtained within six months of hire/transfer
* CPR issued by the American Heart Association or Red Cross
