Transforming Education in Memphis

Memphis Teacher Residency (MTR) is a pioneering program that recruits, trains, and supports highly effective teachers in under-resourced schools. Our mission is to provide students with the same quality of education as their peers in Memphis by fostering a community of dedicated educators.

Our Approach

We combine three essential components to transform Memphis classrooms:

  1. Theory: Master of Arts in Teaching through Christian Brothers University, providing a comprehensive understanding of teaching principles and practices.
  2. Practice: Intensive classroom experience with a mentor teacher, allowing residents to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings.
  3. Support: Ongoing coaching and community life, ensuring residents receive guidance, feedback, and support throughout their residency.
