Job Description

Magnet Medical is seeking an experienced Diagnostic Imaging Professional to work as a Medical Imaging Specialist in Cleveland, Ohio.

This role requires excellent technical skills and the ability to provide high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating MRI machines to create detailed images of the inside of patients' bodies, which are used by doctors to diagnose and treat various medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Procedure Preparation
    • Detailed review of patient medical history, doctor's orders, and previous imaging studies to ensure accurate procedure execution.
    • Patient education and reassurance prior to procedures, addressing any questions or concerns.
    • Completion of necessary documentation, including informed consent forms and patient information.
    • Verification of patient identity and screening criteria to ensure safety protocols are met.
    • Preparation and positioning of the MRI room to ensure equipment readiness.
  • Conducting MRI Scans
    • Accurate operation of the MRI machine, adjusting settings as prescribed by physicians to obtain high-quality images.
    • Patient positioning on the MRI table, ensuring comfort and alignment while adhering to safety standards.
    • Administration of contrast agents as prescribed by physicians to enhance image clarity, monitoring patients for adverse reactions.
    • Ensuring patient stillness during scans to obtain clear, high-resolution images.
    • Real-time monitoring of the MRI process to confirm quality imaging and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Patient Safety and Comfort
    • Evaluation of patient safety during procedures, particularly regarding strong magnetic fields, to prevent accidents or injuries.
    • Ongoing communication with patients during scans, providing reassurance and instructions to maintain comfort.
    • Vital sign monitoring during scans to detect potential issues or discomfort.
    • Awareness of proper patient positioning to avoid injuries or discomfort during imaging.
  • Post-Procedure Care
    • Assistance with patient removal from the MRI table after procedures and evaluation of their stability and comfort.
    • Provision of post-procedure instructions, including follow-up treatments, care for injection sites, and other aftercare guidance.
    • Scheduling of additional imaging or scans as necessary.
    • Addressing immediate concerns or side effects experienced by patients, especially if contrast agents were administered.
  • Maintenance and Equipment Care
    • Regular calibration and maintenance of the MRI machine, performing basic troubleshooting when needed.
    • Cleaning and disinfection of the MRI suite and equipment between patients to adhere to infection control protocols.
    • Monitoring of equipment performance, identifying malfunctions or issues, and alerting appropriate staff for repairs or servicing.
  • Collaboration with Medical Team
    • Effective communication with physicians, radiologists, and other medical staff to ensure accurate image acquisition and patient needs are met.
    • Review of images with healthcare professionals to assess patient conditions and determine the need for follow-up scans.
    • Collaboration with radiologists to ensure final images meet diagnostic standards and are transmitted accurately to physicians for review.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping
    • Accurate documentation of patient information and scan results in the electronic health record, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
    • Labeling and uploading of imaging data into the system, assisting with reports or communications as needed.
    • Maintenance of logs for equipment usage, maintenance, and any issues encountered during procedures.
  • Radiation Safety and Protocols
    • Adherence to guidelines for handling contrast agents and equipment that may pose risks to patients.
    • Compliance with radiation safety standards for other imaging technologies used in the department.
    • Adherence to established safety protocols, including magnetic field safety, to prevent accidents or injuries.
  • Professional Development and Training
    • Stay current with the latest MRI technology, scanning techniques, and patient care practices.
    • Participation in continuing education programs and obtaining necessary certifications to maintain licensure and improve professional skills.
    • Assistance in training new MRI technologists or students on the operation of MRI machines and best practices in patient care.

Estimated Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This compensation package is based on 8 hour shifts and 40 hours of work per week, subject to confirmation.
