Department: WAPA Janitorial Services

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Supervises: None

Pay Rate: $18.88 per hour ($14.65 base + $4.23 H/W)

Part-Time: Monday-Friday (4 hours per day)

General Function:

Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized environment within facilities. Promote hygienic conditions that help reduce odors and the spread of germs.

Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities):

  1. Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
  2. Collect and dispose of waste materials.
  3. Service, clean, and stock restrooms.
  4. Polish furniture and fixtures.
  5. Wash windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning solutions.
  6. Dust surfaces including furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
  7. Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing water and detergents according to specifications.
  8. Shampoo carpets or steam-clean as needed.
  9. Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
  10. Adhere to procedures for using chemical cleaners and equipment to prevent damage.
  11. Move heavy items manually or with equipment.
  12. Notify management of the need for major repairs or improvements.
  13. Order supplies and equipment necessary for cleaning tasks.
  14. Set up and remove decorations and furniture for events.
  15. Follow all safety and OSHA guidelines.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Flexible work schedule is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs as necessary.
  • Must demonstrate reliability in attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to operate various cleaning machinery while meeting physical requirements.
  • Must be responsible and able to follow directions with minimal supervision.

Other Details: Professional office and laboratory environment. Employee will be required to lift, carry, walk, sit, push, and pull.

Minimum Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience in janitorial or related fields.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Successful completion of drug screening and background check.
