About the Job

The Sr. Exercise Physiologist position is responsible for evaluating patients referred to the Cardiac Rehabilitation program, developing and implementing effective treatment plans, and conducting day-to-day operations of the program. This role also prepares and maintains department records and documents for ongoing program accreditation with the American Academy of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Team Management: Promotes a positive work environment, leads the team to achieve optimal department results, and collaborates with the patient care team to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Preceptorship and Mentorship: Serves as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to other exercise physiologists, helping to advance their professional practice at Houston Methodist.
  • Quality and Safety: Assesses patients regularly, monitors progress, and modifies treatment plans as necessary to ensure safe and effective care.
  • Finance and Operations: Uses resources efficiently, prioritizes daily tasks, and enters charges for services provided in a timely manner.
Education and Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field of study. Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Four years' experience in a Cardiac Rehabilitation program. May consider HM employees with three years' experience and demonstrated progressive responsibilities.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS): American Heart Association (AHA) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS): AHA certification within 90 days of hire.
