Job Description:

We are seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our team at University Hospital. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience as a staff therapist, with pediatric and adult experience preferred. The Respiratory Therapist will provide treatment and diagnostic respiratory services to patients and families in all clinical areas, including intensive care units, emergency department, general care, perioperative, and procedure areas. The successful candidate will have clinical assessment skills, the ability to make appropriate clinical decisions, and superb communication skills to work with the inter-disciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care. The Respiratory Therapist will also act as a resource to physicians and healthcare professionals, ensuring orders are concurrent with policies and procedures. This position may function as a 'Charge Therapist' with responsibility for ensuring adequate staffing to cover patient care areas. The ideal candidate will have experience in an Academic Level - Trauma center or similar size hospital and prior traveler experience is highly preferred. The Respiratory Therapist must be licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of Wisconsin, CRT and RRT credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care, and BLS certified through the American Heart Association. The successful candidate will also have a graduate degree from a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accredited School for Respiratory Care. The Respiratory Therapist will be required to float to floors working with children up to 1 year of age and/or based on competency skills/experience. The position requires 36 hours of work per week, with shifts scheduled in multiple units, depending on staffing needs and/or different locations within the organization. The Respiratory Therapist will be required to work weekend, holiday, and on-call rotations. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care and excellent communication skills to work effectively with the inter-disciplinary team.
