Job Overview

This role is responsible for scheduling patient appointments for infusion services at Deaconess. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, excellent grammar and spelling skills, and proficiency in keyboard use and computer software programs. The ability to multitask, apply critical thinking, prioritize, and shift gears quickly is essential for this fast-paced role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides Scheduling Services:
    • Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA regulations.
    • Schedules advance procedures with physicians, physician's offices, and/or appropriate departments.
    • Schedules patient appointments within the Health System Electronic scheduling system (EPIC) and online via the website.
    • Maintains up-to-date knowledge and application of files, including physician privileging, procedural, and block scheduling.
    • Enters information into the computer system and communicates with appropriate departments.
    • Coordinates and schedules patient placements as directed.
    • Schedules and reschedules appointments.
    • Is proficient on cadence scheduling platforms.
    • Exhibits the ability to multitask and address requests in a timely and organized fashion.
    • Updates patient demographics, including name, phone, address, emergency contacts, email, employer information, etc.
  • Financial Assistance:
    • Handles and owns patient inquiries received via telephone by updating accounts appropriately via registration for future account accuracy in billing, etc.
    • Identifies and creates guarantors.
    • Is proficient at coverage training and passes coverage accuracy test yearly.
    • Locates coverage and determines if the clinic takes this insurance coverage for each office within Deaconess Clinic.
    • Future state: Runs RTE for coverage eligibility.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • One or two years' clerical/secretarial experience.
  • One to three years of experience in a physician office, hospital registration, or hospital billing preferred.
