Electronics Service Specialist

Welders Supply & Gases is seeking an experienced Electronics Service Technician to join our team. As a key member of our service team, you will be responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical, mechanical, and control functionality of welding equipment and cutting systems.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough tests to identify problems and focus on electronics.
- Service welding equipment to meet OEM specifications.
- Read manuals, performance specifications, wiring diagrams, and schematics to determine testing procedures and equipment to be used.
- Prepare parts orders and maintain stock of repair parts for the repair facility.
- Calibrate and certify test instruments, welding power sources, and/or miscellaneous equipment according to specifications.
- Connect units to be tested to test equipment.
- Analyze test results on defective units to determine the cause of failure.
- Replace defective wiring and components or record defects on a tag attached to the unit and return the unit to the manufacturer for repair.
- Evaluate the performance and operation of nonstandard or customer-returned units.
- Work with customer service to generate repair invoices.
- Direct customers through the troubleshooting process via phone, email, and on the shop floor.
- One-year certificate from college or technical school; three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and electronics experience.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics.
- General understanding of electronics, electrical controls, circuitry, electro-mechanical, and mechanics.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting customer demand.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to attend industry-specific service and repair training schools/seminars as required.
- Working indoors and outdoors.
- Must be able to move compressed gas/liquid cylinders, equipment, and parts; lift 50-75 pounds.
- Performing work during prolonged periods of standing (up to eight hours) is necessary.
