Production Underwriter

About the Role

The ideal candidate for this Production Underwriter position will be responsible for increasing sales by prospecting new retail agent clients, growing existing retail agencies, and securing new business accounts through excellent customer service, product knowledge, and creative problem-solving.

This role will have a strong focus on the construction segment, including builder's risk, property, and general liability/XS lines of business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Locate new sales opportunities by visiting existing and new customers and presenting our products and services.
  • Maintain and increase current profitable books of business.
  • Establish and foster client relationships and anticipate and resolve any problems that may arise.
  • Respond expeditiously to customer needs and follow through on all aspects of requests, both written and verbal.
  • Embrace change and participate in activities needed to support the growth of the company.
  • Develop, analyze, select, and profitably price risks of varying complexity with an emphasis on new business production.
  • Provide thorough and clear underwriting proposals in a timely manner.
  • Achieve agreed-upon production and loss ratio goals within assigned book of business.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of commercial underwriting experience, with a focus on the construction segment a plus.
  • Must be able to work independently and build strong client and company relationships.
  • Bachelor's degree is desired.
  • Must be deemed to effectively speak, read, write, and comprehend English. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Work Environment

This position requires eligible candidates to reside in either Ohio or Texas.
