Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist plays a vital role in planning, organizing, and providing professional services in restorative, functional, and preventative therapeutic programs to patients. This role involves evaluating and treating patients to facilitate rehabilitation of the mental, physical, or emotional person with a disability. The Occupational Therapist works closely with patients and family to establish and meet treatment goals.

Essential Functions of the Role
  • Evaluate, treat, and monitor patient progress.
  • Modify therapy programs and goals as needed.
  • Perform thorough and concise clinical documentation in a timely manner.
  • Enter charges accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, departmental coworkers, and members of the medical care team.
  • Provide education to patients, family, and staff.
  • Supervise ancillary staff, students, and volunteers.
  • Advance clinical skills through ongoing education, literature review, and implementation of evidence-based practice.
  • Impart knowledge to develop the clinical skills of colleagues.
  • Adhere to organizational, national, and state regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain awareness of system goals and align personal goals and work activities to uphold or impact the system goals.
Key Success Factors
  • Problem-solving skills at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to relate professionally and positively to patients, patient's family members, and facility staff.
  • Exhibits proven face-to-face synergy and leadership skills with all levels of the healthcare team and assures delivery of excellent customer service to all patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers.
  • Proficient computer knowledge and the ability to operate multiple computer systems and standard Rehabilitation equipment.
  • High attention to detail in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining a high level of productivity.

Qualifications
  • Education: Masters' or Bachelors plus 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification.
