Job Title: Social Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Social Scientist to join our team at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC). As a Social Scientist, you will work closely with our Cultural Resources Team to conduct research and analysis to support the Army, Department of Defense, and the Nation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and document historic structures to understand their cultural significance
  • Write detailed architecture descriptions to preserve historical knowledge
  • Search, retrieve, and analyze archival documents to inform research
  • Use historic maps, real estate records, and other archival materials to conduct research
  • Write historical narratives that provide a balanced perspective on researched topics
  • Travel up to 25% of the time to conduct fieldwork and collaborate with colleagues
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines such as history
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for STRL Mission Support Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
